Heroes.

Whether they're smooth talking and arrogant or quiet and intense, there's just something extra in our favorite heroes.

Here are some of the men that keep me reading...all night long.

Bones
From The Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost.

That body, that accent-How did Cat resist for even a moment? Bonus points for being part of an Urban Fantasy series that doesn't rely on a love triangle to keep things interesting.

David
From the Weather Warden Series by Rachel Caine

Oh David! A djinn with unimaginable power and incredible vulnerability. This. Seriously, just read this.

Lucas
From The Otherworld Series (formerly The Women of the Otherworld series and then the boys got to play too!) by Kelley Armstrong
  Super powerful sorcerer/ adorkable lawyer

This book has a new cover. I love the cover on my copy. See, very sexy.

Also from The Otherworld, Jeremy and Adam. Ms. Armstrong is a genius at creating men with believable flaws and big hearts.

Eric Northman
From the Sookie Stackhouse Books
I know, this one is obvious. But seriously- an extra special shout out to AmnesiaEric! Is there anything better in this world than AmnesiaEric!?
Okay, back in high school I devoured Amanda Quick novels. Yes, they follow a distinct pattern. But I LOVED that pattern. Because the many novels featuring snappy one-word titles were quite similar I could probably have chosen any number of the heroes she featured. But fourteen years later, one name stood out and so I chose...Sebastian.

Dangerous by Amanda Quick

Look the spunky heroine has glasses (that she just holds in her hand) and he has a cat! How can you not love a man with a cat?

Oh bother. Here's a shout-out to Scandal's Simon too.

Aidan
From Forever and the Night by Linda Lael Miller.
Oh yeah-vamp romance from before it was a thing. I was fifteen and I was smitten.
I don't have a picture but I do have a story. I liked this book so much I made all my friends read it...including the teenaged boy who later became my husband. ;)

Now, I could get all literary and talk about Mr Darcy, but I think we can take that as a given. :)

I'll post a partner to this featuring my favorite females soon, but in the meantime- tell me. Which men keep you coming back for more?

  1. A nonSpike Vampire? My world is in flames. I gotta go with Christian from "Moulin Rouge." I can't see an image of him without going all squishy inside :)

  2. Bones fan here. Thank you for pointing out that series doesn't need a stupid love triangle to keep things interesting.

One of my favorites is Terrible from Stacia Kane's Downside urban fantasy series. The relationship builds over multiple books and I went from barely thinking of him at all to loving him!

  3. Mr. Thornton from North and South *swoon*
