The Georgia Corbins Giveaway

Ali Philips never thought anything could be more devastating than the day Levi and Tucker Corbin, her two best friends—her only friends—moved away. Three years passed without a single phone call, text message, or email from them and she’s resolved to the fact that she will probably never see them again. Until one morning when she comes face-to-face with Levi Corbin in physics class.

Little does she know, the Corbins have returned to Haldeen with only one thing on their minds: winning Ali’s heart. Ali soon finds herself in the middle of a love triangle she doesn’t want any part of. As she tries to reclaim the friendships she’s lost and to adjust to the unfamiliar feelings she’s having, she struggles with making the one decision that will forever change their lives: Levi or Tucker Corbin?

She’s always had a special bond with Tucker and feels most comfortable when she’s with him. But Levi brings her to life in a way she didn’t think was possible and makes her feel things she didn’t think she would ever feel. Torn between the two, Ali is certain of only one thing–by the time it’s over, she’ll lose one of her best friends.

About the Author

Born and raised in the small town of Mexico, New York, Kara was an only child who was forced to find ways to entertain herself. Playing make believe with her Barbie dolls and stuffed animals was her first real taste of storytelling before she became old enough to develop a love affair with the written word.
In early 2010, Kara picked up her very first erotic romance novel, and she was instantly hooked. She loves to write contemporary romance, erotica, and young adult romance. Currently she has several full-length novels in the works, a series of novellas, and a handful of short stories. Kara is an active member of the CNY Creative Writers CafĂ© and the CNY Romance Writers.
Today, Kara resides in New Haven, New York with her husband, five kids, and three cats. When she's not reading or writing, she's thinking about reading and writing. And when she's not doing that, she's spending time with her family and friends.

I asked Kara to answer a few of my wacky questions so we could all get to know her a bit better.

·         Concerts can be very expensive, who do you think is worth the splurge?

Aerosmith. I've never personally seen them, but if they came anywhere close, I'd definitely splurge for them. Also, Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan. I'd give up body parts to see them.

·         How do you choose your character names? Do you ever change their names mid-process?
I swear that picking character names is the hardest part of the writing process for me. I agonize over it. I have several baby name books I look through or I'll do a Google search for names. Other times, names will just come to me. If I'm really struggling to find a good name, I'll turn to social media. That's how I came up with Tucker's name. I knew from the start I wanted Levi, but I was having a really hard time coming up with a good, kind of unique, southern boy's name for his brother. So, I opened myself up for suggestions on Facebook. There were a lot of good ones. In the end, Tucker won.

Typically, once I've chosen a name, that's it. I become invested in it and my characters become that name. There has only been one time I've ever changed a character's name mid-process, and she was a secondary character with a very small part, so it wasn't too painful.

·         Have you ever read a book that you expected to enjoy but didn’t or, vice versa, read a book that you didn’t expect to enjoy and fell in love with it anyway? Which book?
The Hunger Games trilogy. I watched The Hunger Games movie before I read the book. And I loved the movie, so I just had to read the books. The first one was fantastic and I had very high expectations for the second and third books. I was SO disappointed and disgusted with how those books went I seriously wanted to throw them across the room. I felt cheated out of what could have been an epic story. Instead, I was left feeling like the author got bored with her characters and didn't care what happened to them any longer so she just let them crash and burn. It was horrible. I truly hope the second and third movies are better. (This is the first time ever that I hope the movie doesn't stay true to the books!)

·         When writing, do you share chapters with friends or beta readers as you go or do you keep your projects secret until they are complete?
I always, always, always, always, share everything I write with my critique partner. In fact, I never submit anything until or unless it has first passed by my critique partner. I cannot stress how important it is. He is always catching things that I missed. Whether it be typos, inconsistencies with the characters, or plot holes, his advice is invaluable. Things that make perfect sense to me confuse him. And that is the kind of information I need to have so that I can make the story clearer.

·         What is your go-to cocktail?
Hmmm, well, that depends on where I am. Lol. Most of the time, it's either a Mudslide or something fruity. I can't stand the taste of liquor, so whatever I drink has to mask the taste or else I just can't stomach it.

Meet Margaret Taylor, Author of Wolf's Paradox and A First Love Never Dies.

Hey All,

The lovely and talented Margaret Taylor was kind enough to answer some questions and give us the scoop on her two new releases!

·         Do you have any advice for aspiring writers? Is there anything you wish someone had told you?
Hmmm. I suppose to never give up. Take time and have patience. If you’re brave enough to put your work out there, it’ll happen.
·         Concerts can be very expensive, who do you think is worth the splurge?
Oh, that’s a no brainer! Bon Jovi! Hands down…
·         How do you choose your character names? Do you ever change their names mid-process?
I rarely change them mid-stream. And I rarely choose them. They usually just tell me who they are. Sometimes I have to prod them for a last name, help them along even, but it’s not that common.
·         Have you ever read a book that you expected to enjoy but didn’t or, vice versa, read a book that you didn’t expect to enjoy and fell in love with it anyway? Which book?
Recently I’ve gotten into Shannon Mayer’s Immune Series. They’re awesome. I picked up the first one when it was free, started it around midnight and next thing I know it’s 6am and I’m emailing Shannon and “yelling” at her for keeping me up all night…lol. I didn’t expect to enjoy it, but something about her writing just sucked me right in.
·         If you could learn to prepare (cook, bake, etc.) any dish as well as the restaurant that makes it best, what would it be?
Oh no. I hate to cook. If I can’t nuke it or eat it right out of the box, I simply don’t eat. *laughs* I have my reasons for that mentality and maybe someday I’ll spill them…:D
·         What is your favorite board game? Card game?
Favorite Board Game is Monopoly. Favorite Card is Poker. But, I can’t play poker – at least not to make any money at it…*laughs* Again, maybe someday I’ll tell my readers why, but for now, there ya go.
·         When writing, do you share chapters with friends or beta readers as you go or do you keep your projects secret until they are complete?
Well, I usually share with a few select people or I read to them over the phone if the scene is especially touching or funny. But typically I keep everything a secret until it’s time to share the whole thing. I guess it’s because *I* hate waiting when people send me partial stuff, so I don’t like doing it to those that are nice enough to read and comment for me.
·         Do you have any special talents? (Singing, dancing, juggling, gardening, etc.)
Oh heck no. I sing like a dying cat, on steroids, I have two left feet, I couldn’t juggle if you paid me and I kill Cacti. Yes, I know, that’s hard to do, but I’ve done it! Although, I’m told I’m not a half-bad photographer. Does that count?
·         What is your go-to cocktail?
Well, considering I’m a recovering alcoholic – 20+ years sober, I don’t really have one. But, back in the day, I loved me some Long Island Iced Tea’s and Sex on the Beach!
·         What was your favorite subject at school?
Bah! I hated school. But, if I had to name something, I suppose it would be English. Go figure, right?
·         Please describe your perfect day.
Oh, this one’s easy. (Grabs one of her favorite t-shirts…)
My Perfect Day:
Wake up.
Eat Breakfast.
Play Video Games.
Eat Lunch.
Play Video Games.
Eat Dinner.
Write.
·         Please share a favorite line from your newest book.
Hmmmm…this is a tough one. Since I have two books out right now, what say I share something from both.
From Wolf’s Paradox, I’d have to go with a line from our Hero, Ronon Wulfdrak.
“I’d sooner die than see you torn apart by them.”
From A First Love Never Dies, I’d have to go with something Janel says when she pulls a practical joke on our Hero, Jake to pay him back for tormenting her in High School.
“Opps, sorry Jake,” she said, knowing full well the effects of the brew on a human. Right about now his vision would be swimming. After that his mouth would go as dry as a desert, followed quickly by the feeling of someone tilting the room on him. “Oh dear, I must have pressed the wrong button.”

A First Love Never Dies:
Janel Canton must be pregnant by the time Fleet Commander Pearson Acto catches up to her again and only one man will do for that. Her one true love, sexy Montana Sheriff Jake Reeves. But returning to Earth she finds he's still mourning his dead wife and has become very comfortable in the small-town life. Will introducing him to reality of the Universe be enough for him to move on to a new life?

Sheriff Jake Reeves never thought the nerdy girl he and his cronies picked on in High School would someday become a star ship captain capable of holding her own in just about any situation. But when he meets up with Janel again at their 20 year reunion, that's exactly what he finds! Gone is the nerdy little mouse that never fought back. In it's place, is a rough and tumble, no holds barred, drop-dead gorgeous woman who he's going to have one hell of a time not falling in love with...

Wolf’s Paradox:
Kathy Granite is not your ordinary writer. She's a Weaver - a spinner of great tales and has the ability to write or rewrite the history of a world. Only one problem, she doesn't know it. She's spent the last six years telling the stories of people dragged to Earth from a variety of places by her Layren Protector, Ronon Wulfdrak.

Ronon has spent that same time keeping Kathy in the dark and only brought her people who simply want their story told. He's carefully chosen who would appear and even though she's become quite the sensation in our world, she's clueless as to her effect on any others. Ronon aims to keep it that way and hopes she's safely hidden from his own people. For, if anyone finds out what she really is, they will tear her apart to get at her power.
