The Ultimate Catch by Constance Phillips.

Hi all! Today I have an awesome new release from one of my favorite writer buddies...Constance Phillips!

The Ultimate Catch Blog Tour

Jolanda is willing to do whatever it takes, even face off against the Bering Sea, to raise the money for a balloon payment on her father’s house. She challenges Keller and wins a bet to get on the recently inherited crab fishing boat, forcing the young captain to buck tradition and superstition. Will his season be doomed or will he end up with the ultimate catch?

The Calm Amidst a Storm

Have you ever looked back on a tumultuous time in your life and wonder “how did I get through that?”
This happened to me recently, and those emotions were the ones I tapped into when writing about Jo in The Ultimate Catch.
A few years ago, our family faced a crisis. One that required me to go back to work in my husband’s company. I went from being able to devote all of my time to my aspiring writing career, to working between forty and fifty hours a week doing a familiar job – but one that didn’t bring me much satisfaction. Many of friends and family encouraged me and offered their support. At the time, their kind words—while always appreciated—confused me.
The work was hard and emotionally draining, but it was what had to be done. So, I did it.
It was only after I received my first publishing contract (almost a year to the day that I went back to work) and was able to establish a successor in the job, that I looked back and began to question my strength and determination.
The idea for The Ultimate Catch came from a desire to shatter the stereotype of woman not having a place on an Alaskan crab fishing boat. However, in the beginning I had a hard time trying to come up with a good reason why a woman would want to face the bitter cold and rigorous work. The answer—in the end—was simple.
We do what we have to. Most will face the storm, determined to be a survivor.
And, that is how Jo faces her crisis. A large sum of money is due to make a balloon payment on her father’s mortgage and he is too ill to return to his job on the F/V Sydney. So, she does what she must and faces her personal storm by convincing the boats captain to let her take her father’s place.
It was an easy choice to make amidst the storm.
