Interview with Roe Valentine, author of Love Easy.

Meet Roe Valentine!

Hi friends,
Today I have romance writer, Roe Valentine stopping by to answer a few questions and tell us about her newest release. Meet Ms. Valentine.

Hi Roe, I'm going to launch right into the questions.

Do you have any advice for aspiring writers? Is there anything you wish someone had told you?

I would say first keep writing. Second join a writers' organization that offers craft development and the opportunity to have peer critiques. I wish I would have had a better start at knowing how to promote and market using various social media sites. I'm still learning this.

Concerts can be very expensive, who do you think is worth the splurge?

I think Pink is a concert worth splurging on. She is an amazing singer.

What is your favorite board game? Card game?

I actually really love UNO! So fun when I get together with family.

When writing, do you share chapters with friends or beta readers as you go or do you keep your projects secret until they are complete?

I usually just wait until I have a whole manuscript before I pass it along to my beta readers. Seems to work better for them.

Do you have any special talents? (Singing, dancing, juggling, gardening, etc.)

I’m actually a very good salsa dancer.

LOVE EASY (Historical Romance)

Burb
News reporting is the main joy in Norma Hill's life. She is hell-bent on being more than a weather reporter, but new tyrant boss, Henry Chapel, doesn't agree. While she is following a news lead, Henry saves her from a handsy heir. His words warn her of danger, but his actions stir deeper emotions. Despite his gruff words, can she find the love forever absent from her life?

Pompous and determined, Henry Chapel revives sagging rags and brings them to their former glory. When Lawson Publishing begs Henry to take over the Chicago Daily News, he is more than happy to comply; after all, it had been his favorite newspaper as a child. What he didn't anticipate was a fiery sass-mouthed weather reporter to contend with. He also didn't anticipate finding what he'd been looking for his whole life in the press room.

Excerpt
A loud crash startled him from his nostalgic reverie. The hefty door to his office swung with the full force of a motorcar barreling down Michigan Avenue, one with an ossified driver behind the wheel, no doubt. The metal knob crashed into the plaster, leaving behind a round imprint.
            What the hell?
Behind the ruckus was a tiny brunette standing in the doorway with defiance in her eyes. The little dame slammed the door shut and stood in front of his desk with her tiny palms planted firmly on her hips—her sweet tiny hips.
“I know you said things will change around here, but I refuse to be a slave to you, Mr. Chapel! I am a professional reporter, and I will not be bullied by the likes of you.”
Her face was beet red, masking her beauty. Exotic amber eyes twitched, and her loose raven curls swayed around her face with every head movement.
He remained near the window, compressing his initial need to blow his top. His blood boiled with her blatant reproach. He’d never seen any female employee react that way. Mostly, he’d seen female employees pout and shed tears. This female did neither, and it stimulated him in a way he didn’t expect.
He narrowed his eyes. Sure, he remembered her. If he wasn’t mistaken, she’d stood with her arms crossed and a sneer on her lips during his introduction speech. He studied her lips, her very kissable lips. His mind rattled with aversion and intrigue. He should’ve known then she’d be trouble.

ROE VALENTINE BIO
Roe Valentine was born into the right family. Not only does the name Valentine suit her, but her grandmother, unknowingly, introduced the young Ms. Valentine to her first romance novel. She hasn’t read anything else since. She calls herself a romantic at heart and believes that love conquerors all.
The San Antonio native, who now lives in Houston, attempted to write her first contemporary romance novel when she was nineteen years old. That attempt didn’t take, but her story has a happy ending. She kept pursuing the dream until she landed her first publishing contract in 2013.
When not busy writing or reading love stories, Roe can often be found in a yoga class or chatting with friends at her favorite coffee shop. Enjoying margaritas with some girl-talk isn’t unusual for her either. For a night in, she watches reruns of her favorite TV shows and, of course, romantic comedies on her Roku, usually with a glass of wine.
Roe Valentine also LOVES talking to readers. You can contact her in the following ways:

Brandi Leigh Hall, author of The Birthright Series.

Hi All,
Today I'm joined by writer, Brandi Leigh Hall for a quick interview! Meet Brandi and learn more about The Birthright Series, her paranormal, NA stories.

1.       Do you have any advice for aspiring writers? Is there anything you wish someone had told you?

I guess that would have to be to NOT over think it too much—and write what's in your heart—not what the current trends demand. With my first book, I belonged to several groups, had different crit partners, all of different genres than what I wrote. Most of the advice I was given probably worked well for traditional romance and erotica, but it wasn't the best for my sweet story. I constantly dissected my book based on their thoughts, and in the end, my story lost a lot of its heart. So now, I write the way I "want" to, and tell the story that needs to be told. Which is also a big part of the reason why I chose the "Indie Author" path. I like being my own boss, without feeling pressured to write a certain way.

2.       Have you ever read a book that you expected to enjoy but didn’t or, vice versa, read a book that you didn’t expect to enjoy and fell in love with it anyway? Which book?

Absolutely! THE DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE trilogy by Laini Taylor. I bought it because I loved the cover, but when I first started it, I had a really tough time getting into it, the way she jumped around from character to character. I've always struggled with books that have strange creature/world names; I have trouble following. But...fortunately, I stuck with it and absolutely fell in love with the series. In fact, I'm in the middle of book 3 right now.

3.       What is your favorite board game? Card game?

Hands down, Scrabble! I play it all the time.

4.       When writing, do you share chapters with friends or beta readers as you go or do you keep your projects secret until they are complete?

Oh, heck yeah! My mother is ALWAYS my first beta reader. Usually, every few chapters I'll print them out for her. Or if I do a chapter I'm really excited about, I give it to her immediately. My mind never stops coming up with new plot twists, so I HAVE to run them by her before the anyone in the real-world sees it.

5.       Please share a favorite line from your newest book.

Here's a line from TANGLED (A BirthRight Novel #3), due out this December.
"Death has a way of making you realize—how desperately you want to live."

6. Do you have any hidden talents?

Well, it used to be singing. But somewhere along the way I think I became tone-deaf...lol. No joke. So hidden talent NOW? Hmmmmmmm...well, my family calls me "The Cat Whisperer", does that count? lol

Brandi Leigh Hall
Genre: "Sweet" NA Urban Fantasy

Brandi Leigh Hall is a YA and NA author, whose stories lean towards the sweeter side of romance. Her novels combine magical elements with real-life issues, strong female characters, semi-old-fashioned men, and family values, woven together and told from an organic and emotional, first-person perspective.

Growing up in a haunted house in Central PA inspired Brandi's fascination with the paranormal, so it only made sense she'd write Urban Fantasy for both teens and adults.

Brandi lives in central Pennsylvania with her fur-ball cats (Onyx and Klepto), where she spends most of her time attached to her laptops, reading books, appeasing her sweet tooth, and watching TV for inspiration.

~ Excerpt from GO WITH ME, copyright 2014 Elyssa Patrick ~

His mouth is on mine. He’s kissing me. And . . . I can’t believe it. I can’t believe he’s kissing me.

And I can’t believe I’m not kissing him back. I’m still in a state of disbelief where my mind is still processing that we’re actually doing this.

Nick pauses, but he doesn’t back away from me. He removes his mouth just enough that if he spoke, he would resume the kiss.

And he does exactly that.

“Kiss me,” he whispers those two words against me. Kiss me rubs along my lips, his breath stealing into mine. The deep, soft rumbling vibration of his low, sexy voice causes a tremor in my body, rocking me to my core.

Hell yeah, I’m going to kiss him back. I’m not wasting this moment. Just like he’s rocking my world right now, I’m so going to blow his mind.

I trail my fingers down his face, more than pleased when I feel a muscle in his jaw leap against my touch, then he stills himself. My fingers skim down his neck to the collar of his gray Henley shirt. I grasp his shirt and one tiny button digs into my palm. I lean up so my lips are almost touching his, so that when I speak, my mouth would move against his.

I look into his blue, blue eyes and whisper onto his lips, “Make me.”

He growls against my mouth—oh God, that’s so fucking hot—and then holds my face in his hands.

“Daphne,” he says, “You don’t even know what you do to me.”

Well, I have some idea, given what I’m feeling right now pressed against me. But before I can make a smart comeback, Nick kisses me.

I’ve never been kissed like this. Ever.

It’s not even a kiss. It’s a claiming. It’s intent, signed, sealed, and delivered with every touch.

His lips are soft against mine, teasing me—even as he marks me as his. He tugs gently on my lower lip, sucking it into his mouth, and I whimper with need. I’m being branded.

It’s only fair that I brand him in return.

I lean up even more on my toes and loop my arms around his neck, playing with the ends of his thick, wavy, dark brown hair. I sigh into his mouth, the sound full of desire—for him. He hauls me to him, and there’s no doubt in my mind whatsoever how much he wants me.

He’s so warm to my touch, and I want to burrow into him . . . and then I want to take off all his clothes so I can have my wicked way with him. I feel the hard length of him, hot and insistent, against me, and I get wet at the thought of being with him, skin to skin.

I kiss him, all the pent up passion I’ve hidden for so long, pouring out of me and into him. I want him. I let him know how much I want him. I take his mouth with my own, biting gently on his lower lip. I soothe the slight sting with my tongue, and he utters another sexy growl right before he slides his tongue into my mouth.

Had I thought I was being kissed before?

I was obviously mistaken.

Because this kiss? This kiss is the kiss. It’s like a planet bursting into life in the galaxy—I never knew a kiss could be like this until now. Until him.

His tongue meets mine, sweeping into my mouth, and I taste him. Strong, sexy, hot—and all mine.

His hand moves to the back of my neck, his fingers tangling in my hair, and he moves his lips. Pressing into me. Wanting me.

Nick Brady wants me.
